The final episodes of the latest Law & Order spin-off left everyone on the hook wondering about the contents of a mysterious note Stabler (Meloni) handed off to former partner Benson (Mariska Hargitay).
Stabler had been drawn back to the force following the murder of his wife, with Benson joining him at times to hunt for clues. Of course, the sexual tension between the pair smouldered as well!
Ahead of the crime drama’s second season, Meloni promised Organized Crime won’t have to wait long for answers on the contents of the cryptic letter.
“The letter is addressed this season and I think [fans are] going to set [their] heads on fire when it happens. I think there’s going to be a riot,” he predicted to TVLine.
Meloni went on to hint that the secrets of the note will be “doled out to the audience” in parts, rather than revealing the big twist all at once in season 2.
“You’re going to hear what’s in the letter. Maybe not the full and total [letter], but you’re going to get an earful,” he said.
Christopher Meloni and Mariska Hargitay have been fully embracing fans’ hopes for Stabler and Benson to get together during the off-season, even teasing a kiss for the characters on social media this summer.
Law & Order: Organized Crime returns to NBC on Thursday, September 23, while Law & Order: Special Victims Unit airs earlier that same night as well. In the UK, Sky Witness airs SVU and Organized Crime.
