Marvel star Hayley Atwell is set to voice Lara Croft in Netflix‘s upcoming Tomb Raider series.

The streaming platform announced today (September 13) that it’s teaming up with Legendary Television to continue the iconic character’s globetrotting adventures in anime form, as part of a story that will follow on from Square Enix’s video game reboot trilogy.

When it releases, the show is expected to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the franchise’s first ever title.

Released in 2013, Tomb Raider saw players steer amateur explorer Lara – then voiced by Grey’s Anatomy star Camilla Luddington – through a mission to save her friends and escape the island of Yamatai, all while being pursued by a mysterious, dangerous cult.

Its sequel, Rise of the Tomb Raider, which came out in 2015, has her travel to Siberia in search of the legendary city of Kitezh. But her plans prove difficult when Trinity, a paramilitary organisation that wants to uncover the city’s key to immortality, threaten to find it first.

In 2018, Shadow of the Tomb Raider has Lara face Trinity once again as she tries to stop a Mayan apocalypse she inadvertently unleashed.
